Test Retakes
You may retake ONE unit test each term. (There are generally either three or four tests per term.)
- Retakes will available only at the conclusion of the term.
- Retake dates are posted on the calendar, website, and classroom whiteboard as term-end approaches.
- It is the student's responsibility to make time to come in during the retake period (Tuesdays). If you want the chance for a retake you need to make it a priority!
- There is a 90% ceiling on retakes.
- Your retake score will replace your original score even if it is lower. If you are going to do a retake, you need to STUDY first.
- Before test retakes occur, study days will be announced. On those days (at the posted times) students make come in to study their original unit test to determine how improvement can be made. (The tests may not leave the classroom.)
- Retake tests are very similar to the original test, so students who spend the time and effort to understand the questions during the study days should be able to improve substantially. HOWEVER. It is also the case that those who do not put serious effort into their study often get lower scores the second time. Come in and STUDY during the three study days of Retake Week!
- There is no overlap between the Study days and Retake days. (I.e., No, you may NOT see your original test on a Retake day. Plan ahead.)
- The same tools (Periodic table, pencil, calculator, 3x5 card, etc) are allowed as with a regular exam. The same rules (no talking, no phones, no calculator-sharing, write name, period & test ID) apply as with a regular exam.
